Advanced Leadership Course

The Advanced Leadership Course offers small business leaders an in-depth, multi-month learning experience focusing on relationship management at work and home.

This nationally-acclaimed course meets one full day per month for nine months and features:

  • Small class size (maximum of 12 leaders)
  • A rigorous learning format emphasizing “application to self”
  • Cutting-edge leadership research presented in brief, lively segments
  • Interactive, practical advanced skills training
  • Coaching demonstrations using “live issues”
  • Supportive and challenging feedback
  • Practical accountability agreements
  • Applications to both work and personal relationships
  • “Elegantly comfortable” lodge-type setting with gourmet meals
  • Private meeting rooms with casual dress
  • Topics include: emotional maturity in leadership, roles and functions of a leader, promoting responsibility within the family and within the business, self-awareness and self-observation, giving and receiving feedback, managing anxiety, pressure and stress, building stronger connections at work and home, coaching and mentoring skills, courage, stamina and perspective in leadership, accountability strategies, clarifying life/work values and beliefs, and fitness and well-being.

Qualifications

Successful candidates for the Advanced Leadership Course represent a wide variation of leadership positions, fields and circumstances, such as:

  • Entrepreneurial heads of growing businesses
  • Next-generation leaders of family businesses
  • Key partners of law and accounting firms
  • Family business owners
  • Executive directors of not-for-profit organizations
  • Government and political leaders
  • School headmasters, superintendents, and principals
  • Physician and dental practice leaders
  • Hospital and nursing home administrators
  • Mid-to-late-career executives
  • Entrepreneurial heads of growing businesses
  • Corporate division leaders

Three qualifications are required for acceptance into the Advanced Leadership Course:

  1. One must possess a high level of motivation to examine oneself and one’s leadership style, including openness to constructive feedback
  2. One must be in a current leadership role (with specific people management responsibility) or anticipating such a role within the 12-month period beginning with one’s enrollment in the Advanced Leadership Course
  3. One’s participation must be endorsed by John Engels, president of Leadership Coaching, Inc.

Please note: all interested individuals or groups must set up a mutual qualifying meeting in order to register for the Advanced Leadership Course.

The all-inclusive course fee of $9,400 per person applies to the Rochester-based course sections only. This fee covers tuition, materials, facility and food. Fees are negotiated for specialized course formats.
